Be a person other people want to meet.

Use photos that are actually of you and recent enough to recognise you by. Say your real age. Do not pretend to be someone else, and do not use someone else’s pictures.

Impersonating a real person, or running a profile on behalf of someone who has not agreed to it, gets the account removed.

Apoile is for adults. Accounts are age-gated at signup and the check is enforced in the database, but if you believe someone under 18 is using Apoile, report them immediately and choose “They appear to be under 18”. Those reports are treated as urgent.

Never share sexual content involving anyone under 18, in any form. This results in immediate removal and is reported to the authorities.

Profile photos must be safe to look at in public. No nudity, no sexual acts, no underwear-only shots. Every photo is reviewed before it goes live, so anything explicit simply never appears — but repeatedly uploading it will get the account suspended.

You cannot message anyone who has not liked you back, which removes most of this problem at the source. Inside a match:

• No threats, intimidation or abuse.
• No unsolicited sexual messages or images.
• No hate directed at anyone's race, ethnicity, religion, disability, gender, gender identity or sexual orientation.
• If someone unmatches you, that is the end of the conversation. Do not create another account to reach them.

Apoile is for meeting people. It is not a place to promote a business, sell anything, recruit for anything, or drive traffic somewhere else.

Asking other members for money — for any reason, however plausible — gets the account removed on the first instance. So does directing people to investment schemes, cryptocurrency, or off-site payment of any kind.

Do not use Apoile to buy, sell or arrange anything illegal, to solicit or offer paid sexual services, or to traffic or exploit anyone. Accounts doing so are removed and reported.

One person, one account. Creating a second account to get around a block, an unmatch or a suspension is not allowed.

Depending on what happened, one of the following:

• A photo is rejected and does not go live.
• The account is suspended — you are signed out, cannot sign back in, and your profile disappears from other members' feeds, searches and matches.
• For anything involving minors, credible threats or serious illegal activity, the account is removed and the matter is passed to the authorities.

Suspensions can be reversed if a mistake has been made. Reply to the email address you signed up with and it will be looked at again.

Every profile and every conversation has a report button. Choose a reason, add anything useful, and send it. The person you report is never told who reported them.

Report things even if you have already blocked the person. Blocking protects you; reporting protects everyone else.
